At the end of the 17th century, Lychee was introduced to Burma from China. Lychee was introduced to India 100 years later. Lychee was introduced to Madagascar and Mauritius around 1870. Lychee was introduced to Hawaii by Chinese merchants in 1873. It was introduced to Florida from India in 1870 and 1880, and in 1897. It was introduced to California in the year, and was introduced to Israel from 1930 to 1940. It was brought to Australia by Chinese immigrants in 1954. Litchi is now widely distributed in Central and South America, part of Africa and throughout Asia. The main countries of litchi in the world today are: China, India, South Africa, Australia, Mauritius, Madagascar and Thailand.
