Flavor and taste
Sweetness: Mandarin Oranges are usually sweeter. Sweetness varies depending on factors such as variety, planting environment and maturity. For example, the sweetness of sugar oranges is quite high, generally reaching about 12-17 degrees, and it tastes as sweet as sugar; some late-ripening varieties may be sweeter.
Acidity: There is moderate acidity to balance the sweetness and make it taste fresh. This acidity is not too sharp. For example, the acidity of ordinary citrus is about 0.5-1.2%, which can stimulate the taste buds, increase appetite, and make the taste of citrus richer and fuller.
Juiciness: The flesh of citrus is rich in juice. When biting or peeling citrus, the juice will overflow immediately. This is because its pulp cells contain a large amount of cell sap, which is rich in water, sugar, organic acid and other nutrients. The juice content can reach about 70-80%, making people feel moist and refreshing when eating.
Nutritional value
Vitamin content: It is a good source of vitamin C. The content of vitamin C in every 100 grams of citrus pulp is about 20-30 mg. Vitamin C has many important physiological functions such as anti-oxidation and enhancing immunity. In addition, it also contains a certain amount of B vitamins, such as vitamin B1, B2, etc., which are helpful for the body's metabolism and other processes.
Mineral content: It contains minerals such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Among them, the potassium content is relatively high, with about 150-200 mg of potassium in every 100 grams of citrus. Potassium plays an important role in maintaining normal heart function and neuromuscular excitability; the calcium content is about 30-40 mg/100 grams, which helps bone health.
Flavonoids and other antioxidants: Rich in flavonoids, such as hesperidin. These flavonoids have potential benefits such as anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition, the content of carotenoids (such as β-carotene) in citrus is also considerable, which can be converted into vitamin A in the human body and has a certain effect on vision protection.

Ways to eat and convenience
Easy to peel: The peel of citrus is relatively easy to peel, which is one of its major features. Whether it is peeled directly by hand or with the help of some tools (such as a knife to make a few shallow cuts on the peel), the peel can be removed relatively easily to reveal the flesh inside. Different varieties of citrus have some differences in the difficulty of peeling. For example, the peel of Wogan is thinner and easier to peel, while grapefruit (broadly defined as citrus) can also be peeled, but because of its thick peel, it takes relatively more effort.
Diversity of consumption: It can be eaten directly and taste its original sweet and sour taste. It can also be used to make juice. After squeezing the citrus, the juice obtained is rich and sweet, which can be drunk directly or used to mix cocktails and other drinks. It can also be made into canned food. After processing, canned citrus can be stored for a long time and maintain a certain taste and flavor; or it can be processed into citrus jam and spread on bread and other foods to add flavor.
Storage and preservation characteristics
Room temperature storage: At room temperature, citrus can generally be stored for several days to several weeks. If the environment is relatively dry and well ventilated, the storage time will be relatively longer. For example, ordinary citrus can still maintain good quality at room temperature for about a week, but as time goes by, the moisture will gradually lose and the peel may become shriveled.
Refrigerated storage: Refrigeration can extend the shelf life of citrus. In a refrigerated environment of 4-8℃, citrus can be stored for 2-3 months. Refrigeration can slow down the respiration and metabolism of the fruit, reduce water evaporation and loss of nutrients. However, after refrigeration, citrus may need to be placed at room temperature for a period of time before eating, and the taste will be better, because refrigeration may make the taste of citrus slightly cooler and more astringent, which can be improved after returning to room temperature.
