Compare Net Weight with Drained Fruit
Net weight describes the contents of the can, while drained weight describes the fruit after the packing liquid is removed. Compare quotations using the quantity that your recipe actually consumes. A business using drained segments has a different cost basis from a business using the complete can contents.
The two formats pair 800 g net weight with 400 g drained weight, and 567 g net weight with 235 g drained weight. Keep each pair together when reviewing an offer. Assess the fruit through a consistent draining procedure so the sample evaluation and purchasing calculation use the same basis.

Select the Can Size for the Batch
Choose a format around the quantity of mandarin segments used in a preparation run. A larger can supplies more declared drained fruit per opening; a smaller can can suit a lower-volume batch or an operation that opens several cans at a time. The useful comparison is how the unit fits the production dose and handling routine.
Test the selected format through your normal opening, draining and ingredient-transfer steps. Measure the quantity that reaches the recipe and the remaining liquid carried with it. That trial supports accurate ingredient dosing without assuming that all fruit preparations handle the packing liquid in the same way.
Review Segment Appearance After Draining
For products with visible mandarin fruit, evaluate segment integrity, broken pieces and the appearance of the fruit after handling. A topping or dessert inclusion may need a different presentation from a blended fruit preparation. Compare the sample in the finished product as well as in the drained tray.
Use the intended mixing, transfer and portioning steps in the evaluation. These steps can alter the fruit presentation before it reaches the customer. Record the accepted appearance with the selected can format so later purchasing comparisons have a practical reference, rather than relying on a general fruit grade label.
Plan Cartons and Receiving
A carton of the larger cans totals 19.2 kg of net contents and 9.6 kg of declared drained fruit. The smaller-can carton totals 13.608 kg net and 5.64 kg drained. These calculated contents help compare price per kilogram of usable fruit and plan ingredient stock. They exclude can and carton weight.
Shipment weight includes the metal cans, cartons and any pallet materials. Use the actual carton dimensions and shipping weights when arranging freight. At receipt, inspect the carton and sealed-can condition and keep production-lot details with the goods for stock rotation and any quality follow-up.
